Embrace the Warmth: The Importance of Repairing Doors and Windows for Winter

December 21, 2023 Steve Sherbourne

As the crisp winds of winter start to weave their way into our daily lives, it becomes increasingly essential to fortify our homes against the chill. One crucial aspect often overlooked is the state of our doors and windows. These silent guardians of our homes play a pivotal role in keeping the cold at bay and maintaining a cosy haven during the winter months.

We understand the significance of well-maintained entrances and windows, especially as the temperature drops. Here’s a closer look at why repairing doors and windows is a winter necessity.

Energy Efficiency Matters:

Doors and windows in disrepair can be significant culprits in allowing heat to escape and cold drafts to infiltrate your home. The inefficiency can lead to increased energy consumption and higher utility bills as your heating system works overtime to compensate. By investing in the repair of doors and windows, you not only enhance the comfort of your living spaces but also contribute to a more sustainable and energy-efficient home.

Preventing Unwanted Moisture:

Winter brings more than just cold temperatures; it also ushers in damp and chilly weather. Doors and windows with gaps or leaks can allow moisture to seep into your home, leading to potential issues like mould and mildew. Repairing these openings is a proactive measure to safeguard your home against the damaging effects of excess moisture, ensuring a healthier living environment for you and your family

Enhanced Security:

The winter season often sees an increase in home-related incidents, with broken or malfunctioning locks and hinges compromising the security of your home. At Windrush Doors & Windows we offer emergency locksmith services for both businesses and homes across Oxfordshire. This means you can rest assured knowing that we’re available to address any issues promptly, keeping your property safe from potential intruders.

Aesthetic Appeal:

Beyond functionality, doors and windows contribute significantly to the overall aesthetic appeal of your home. A well-maintained facade not only boosts kerb appeal but also creates a welcoming atmosphere. Repairing doors and windows before winter sets in allows you to enjoy a visually pleasing home environment, making the colder months more enjoyable for both residents and visitors.

With our expertise in the industry, we understand the unique challenges posed by the winter season. Our team of professionals is equipped to assess, repair, and enhance the performance of your doors and windows. By entrusting your winter preparations to seasoned professionals, you ensure a thorough and effective solution tailored to your specific needs.

We are available to help your you maintenance or replacement needs so get in touch with us to discover how we can help get your property winter ready.

This June Windrush installed 39 Pvcu windows to our student accommodation block at Rewley Abbey Court. The work required them to install the windows while residents were in occupation, some with young children. Windrush carried out a full risk and method statement and appraisal to carry out the works in a safe manner with multi-occupation to consider. Full scaffolding and access booms were used with everything being alarmed and fenced off with appropriate signage in place. The Windrush team involved had all the necessary accreditation holding CSCS cards, asbestos awareness trained, CRB checked etc. The windows were as per our requested specification with Windrush being the most competitive out of the competition. The College are very pleased with all aspects of the work carried out and will be using Windrush on our future projects.

Windrush have installed new pvcu patio doors in the residents homes on site. The window installers being friendly and polite and having a nice demeanour and getting on well with the residents. The work was carried out in a professional manor with their work being clean and tidy all with an insurance baked guarantee. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to others.

I would just like to say that I was very impressed by the two young men who came to do the windows yesterday, they were very efficient, had impeccable manners and they cleared up after themselves which was a joy.

Windrush serviced two Velux windows and re-glazed with new sealed units, re-glazed a bedroom window with three sealed units, and re-glazed a conservatory upgrading sealed units to “Low E Argon” gas and thermal bar

During the School holidays the Windrush team carried out window adaption works for the School. Windrush installed remote window winding equipment to our high level windows that have been a health and safety issue with pupils and staff standing on chairs to open. I can recommend Windrush for their professional approach, competitive pricing and ability to accommodate our requirements during a busy time with many other trades on site. They were willing to change their work schedule to accommodate changing circumstances on site.

Windrush recently attended our Academy and replaced damaged window hinges and handles with great success. The Windrush Team who carried the work out were very professional with the work being carried out during normal School hours. The Health and Safety aspect being covered with the adoption of measures from their risk assessment and method statement being carried out.
